The Chola kingdom was known as Cholamandulam, it was situated to the north-east of Pandya kingdom between Pennar and Vellar rivers. Tiger was the royal emblem of Chola Kingdom.
The earliest Satavahana inscriptions belong to the 1st century BCE. In the 1st century BCE the Satavahana defeated the Kanvas and established their rule over parts of central India.
The Divyavadana is a Sanskrit anthology of Buddhist avadana tales. They have originated in Mulasarvastivadin vinaya texts. It is dated to 2nd century CE.
