Babur first established himself in Kabul in 1504 A.D. and then pushed steadily southward into India from Afghanistanthrough the Khyber Pass. Later he successfully captured Bhira, Sialkot, and Lahore in Punjab.
The important characteristics of the Vijayanagar administration was the Amara-Nayaka system. The top-grade officers of the army were known as Nayaks or Palaiyagars or Poligars. These officers were granted land in lieu of their services.
Tansen also referred to as Tan Sen or Ramtanu, was a prominent figure of Hindustani classical music. He accepted Islam at the hand of great Sufi mystic saint Muhammad Ghaus of Gwalior. It is believed that he could bring rain and fire through singing the ragas Megh Malhar and Deepak respectively.
