Women participated quite actively in the Indian national movement. They participated in the boycott of foreign goods, picketing of liquor shops, non-payment of taxes, and so on. All of the above movements drew women out from the seclusion of home.
Latika Ghosh was the niece of Arubindo Ghosh. She started the Mahila Rashtriya Sangha (MRS) in Chittagong in the year 1928. The aim of the MRS was to fight for freedom through the mobilization women for political work. Mahila Rashtriya Sangha was started to organize women to resist the Simon Commission.
