Jallianwala Bagh incident took place on 13th April, 1919. Rabindranath Tagore gave up his Knighthood. Gandhiji wrote in his “Young India” magazine that “This satanic government cannot be mended, it must be ended”. Martial Law was imposed in many parts of Punjab in the evening. All public movements were restricted.
In the year 1914 (28th July), First World War started and ended in 1918 (11th November). England, France Russia was on a side and Germany, Austria, Hungary and Turkey were on another side.
Expansion and reconstruction of the Central provincial legislatures, Devolution of the Legislative authority by the centre to provinces, Dyarchy in the Executive Government of the Provinces was introduced by the Government of India Act 1919. It was abolished by the Government of India Act 1935 and dyarchy at centre was introduced. Introduction of Separate Communal electorates for Muslims was done by Morley-Minto reforms.
