Santhal or Santal are India's third largest scheduled tribe community after Gonds and Bhils. The Santhali population is mainly distributed in Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal.
India has been elected to the Intergovernmental Committee of UNESCO's 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) for the 2022-2026 cycle.
