Number System
Three numbers are in ratio of 3: 4 :5. If the sum of first & third numbers is more than second number by 52, which will be largest number?
Suppose the digit at unit's places is y and that at ten's places is x.Then, the number = 10x + y,According to the question.x + y = 8 .......(i)Again 10x + y - 18= 10y + x= 10x + y - 10y - x = 18= x - y = 2 ............(iii)From, equation (i) and (iii) we get x + y = 8x - y = 22x = 10= x = 5 and y = 3∴ number = 10 x 5 + 3 = 53
Let the middle digit be x. Then, 2x = 10 or x = 5.So, the number is either 253 or 352. Since the number increases on reversing the digits, so the hundred's digit is smaller than the unit's digit. Hence, required number = 253.
Let the no. be 10x + y.No. formed by the interchange of digits = 10y + xWe have y - x = 2 .........(i)y + x = 14 .........(ii)Solving (i) and (ii), we get x = 6, and y = 8∴ the no. is 68.
