Lord Dalhousie was involved in so many reforms associated with Women’s education and women empowerment. With the help of Drinkwater Bethune, he succeeded to set up a women’s college (Bethune Women School). Later he introduced the Hindu Widows’ Remarriage Act in the year 1856. It was approved by Lord Canning and became an act that allowed remarriage of the widows.
