World No Tobacco Day is observed on May 31 every year to create awareness of the dangers of smoking, tobacco companies and their business practices. The theme for 2022 is "Tobacco: Threat to our environment". In 1987, the World Health Assembly passed a resolution calling for the celebration of World No Tobacco Day every year on 31 May.
