Chronological order of the acts are Vernacular Press Act – 1878, Newspapers (Incitement to Offences) Act- 1908, Indian Press (Emergency Powers) Act- 1931, Foreign Relations Act- 1932.
Under the Royal Irish Constabulary model of police force the province was under a Captain of police who was responsible to the Chief Commissioner. The rural police were responsible for guarding treasuries, goals or headquarters and escort of prisoners.
