Ramgupta was the elder son of Samudragupta. Samudragupta was succeeded by Ramagupta according to some legends, but Chandragupta II killed him. It is also believed that during the tenure of Ramagupta, the Gupta empire was invaded by a powerful Shaka kin.
The finest examples of the art during the Gupta period are Ajanta caves. Out of the 31 rock-cut cave monuments at Ajanta, five are Chaitya Grihas. The five chaitya grihas are cave numbers 9, 10, 19, 26, and 29.
The term Vedanta literally signifies the ‘end of the Vedas’. They reveal the final aim of the Vedas. The Vedanta condemn all form of sacrifices and ceremonies that denote the last phase of the Vedic period.
