Indian Forest Service officer, Chandra Prakash Goyal has been appointed as Director-General of Forests and Special Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
The top five states in terms of increase in forest cover are Andhra Pradesh (647 sq km), Telangana (632 sq km), Odisha (537 sq km), Karnataka (155 sq km) and Jharkhand (110 sq km).
An agreement was exchanged in which India is extending a $190-million line of credit to Mauritius for the Metro Express Project and other infrastructure projects.
