The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, has identified 75 Municipal Corporations to implement comprehensive rehabilitation of persons engaged in the act of begging under "SMILE.
The Press Information Bureau was established in June 1919. In 1941, J. Natrajan became the first Indian to be head the Bureau as Principal Information Officer. The organisation's name was changed to the Press Information Bureau in 1946.
The administration informed Parliament that concrete actions were taken by the RBI and government-assisted banks in recovering bad loans of more than Rs 8.6 lakh crore over the previous eight fiscal years.
