Alligation or Mixture problems
In a 100 litre of mixture the ratio of milk and water is 6:4. How much milk must be added to the mixture in order to make the ratio 3 : 1?
Let the milk he bought is 1000 ml Let C.P of 1000 ml is Rs. 100 Here let he is mixing K ml of water He is getting 30% profit => Now, the selling price is also Rs. 100 for 1000 ml => 100 : K% = 100 : 30 10 : 3 is ratio of milk to water => Percentage of milk = 10 x 100/13 = 1000/13 = 76.92%
Here first two varieties of tea are mixed in equal ratio.So their average price = (126 + 135) /2 = Rs. 130.50 Let price of the third variety per kg be Rs. A; then now mixture is formed by two varieties one at Rs. 130.50 per kg and other at Rs. A per kg in the same ratio 2 : 2 i.e, 1 : 1 By the rule of alligation,(A - 153) / (22.50) = 1 ? A ? 153 = 22.50 ? A = Rs. 175.50
Ratio of milk and water = 2 : 1Quantity of milk = 60 X 2/3 = 40 litreQuantity of water = 20 litreTo make ratio, 1: 2, we have to double the water that of milkSo, water should be 80 litre.That means 80 ? 20 = 60 litre water to be added.
Let us assume the number of boys = B and number of girls = G.According to question,B + G = 30Lets us assume total weight of boys = W1 and total weight of girls = W2average weight of boys = total weight of boys/number of boystotal weight of boys/number of boys = 20W1/B = 20W1 = 20Baverage weight of girls = total weight of girls/number of girls25 = W2/GW2 = 25GData is not sufficient to solve the equation.since we do not know either the average weight of the whole class or the ratio of no. of boys to girls.
